Question by Mastermind: Should donations be returned?
My wife and I lost a child stillborn. We found that “genetic testing” was an option that may answer questions as to what happened since the autopsy came back inconclusive. The testing can be very costly, so my mother put together a letter explaining the tragedy that occured, and explained what we were doing. The letter went on to ask for donations to offset the cost. A total of 40 family and friends sent a total of 00. Now, after anxiously waiting 3 months for the results, they tell us they never did the test because they DID find something on the autopsy. The whole situation has been a very trying for us, and the medical bills for my wife’s stay in the hospital accumulate to well over 00, not to mention the costs for funeral, burial, etc. We are not doing well financially right now so I suggested using the donations towards medical bills. My mother said this would be fraudulent and I need to send all the money back. What would be the proper thing to do? Please help!
Apparently the autopsy, combined with my wife’s bloodwork concludes Fifths disease as the reason. Why it took 3 months to tell us the testing was canceled due to this, the hospital can not answer.
Yes, thank you cards were sent out to everyone whom donated money.

well i think that you should ask 2 more family members their opinion and see what they say. Me, if i wasnt doing well .. then i would put it towards the funeral .
